Equine Osteopathy assesses and treats your horse as a “whole”, taking in to consideration the spine, joints, muscle, connective tissues with the aim of trying to find the primary problem. In many cases, horses adapt and compensate for an area that may not be working as well and this can lead to overuse/stress of tissues in other areas.
Osteopathic treatment for your horse incorporates a variety of techniques such as massage, stretching, range of motion exercises, cranial-sacral therapy. These techniques assist in removing tension and restrictions from joints and muscles to improve mobility, function and quality of life for your euine friend.
The aim of the treatment is to assist your horse to become pain free and more balanced. Equine Osteopathy can help with many conditions such as;
- Soft tissue, musculoskeletal injuries
- Head or back issues
- Lameness or reduced mobility
- Gait/transition problems
- Recovery from high intensity training
- Behavioural problems
The first treatment is approximately 75-90 minutes, this includes health history, gait analysis, photos and treatment. It is favourable to schedule treatments when your horse can be rested for a couple of days afterwards, this allows your horse to adjust to any changes.
First Treatment is $80 and followup appointments are $70.
